Certified Nursing Assistants are required by the Florida Board of Nursing to complete 12 in-service hours per calendar year that shall include the following subject areas during the biennium: Be sure to look for the " Your mandatory 12 hour inservice for CNAs" TEST title once you sign-in (only $24.96), if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call (386-325-5790 or email). What are the mandatory subject areas? • Blood Borne Pathagens, HIV/AIDS, Infection Control; (3 hours) • Domestic Violence; (2 hours) • Medical Record Documentation and Legal Aspects Appropriate to Nursing Assistants; • Resident Rights; (2 hours) • Communication with cognitively impaired clients; (1 hour) • CPR skills; (1 hour) • Medical Error Prevention and Safety. (2 hours) •
For a total of 12 mandatory in-service hours. Florida CNA license renewalYour Florida CNA license is good for 2 years. The Board of Nursing sends out renewal letters to your last known address. It is your responsibility to keep your address current with the Nursing Assistant Registry. We report credits to CEBroker, the state's auditing system.Check your license, some CNAs will expire 12/31/2011 If you do not renew your license/certificate by 12/31/2011 it will become delinquent and you will be required to pay a delinquent fee of $50, in addition to the renewal fee. Certifed Nursing Assistant Registry CNA Registry: Exemptions from in-service training A certified nursing assistant is exempt from the in-service education requirement if the certified nursing assistant was on active duty with the Armed Forces for 6 months or more during the calendar year, and was in good standing with the Board at the time active duty began. However, this exemption will not arise on the basis of the performance of short periods of active duty (such as summer or weekend drills) by a member of the Armed Forces Reserves. Duty in the United States Public Health Service is not considered duty in the Armed Forces.
